Half-destroyed buildings can be seen everywhere along the streets of the city because of bombing of the Syrian army. Explosions and gunfire can be heard day and night. The city is split in two: one part is controlled by the Free Syrian Army (FSA), and the other- by the governmental army.

The war is led in city conditions, many of the streets are “covered” by al-Assad’s snipers, and daily the civilian population of the city is subjected to being in the scope of fire and inhuman living conditions of constantly being a target.

The free Syrian army consists of inhabitants of Syria that have rallied against al-Assad’s regime, fighters from other Arabian countries, as well as fighters of the Islamic group Jabhat al-Nusra- the Front of Victory, which is considered to be closely affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

Aleppo - In The Eye of War
Since March 2011 there has been fearsome war in Syria that has taken more than 120 000 human lives. This story will bring you in the heart of the military operations in the city of Aleppo, which is one of the main battlefields between the forces of Bashar Al-Assad and the Free Syrian Army. In December 2012 Georgi Kozhuharov spent six days with the rebels.
Georgi Kozhuharov was born in Sofia in 1986. He studied photography at NBU. At 17 he starts working as trainee photographer in one of the leading Bulgarian daily Dnevnik newspaper, and he still works for Economedia Group. In 2013 he won first prices at "BG Press Photo " and "Canon - Picture of the Year " contests as well as the Special Prize of the Association of European Journalists for his work on the war in Syria. He took part in numerous exhibition and festivals such such as: Phodar Biennialin 2011, Shavarsh Artin 2007-2009, Canon Bulgaria - Picture of the Year 2007-2013 and BG Press Photo 2005-2013 . He has participated in the master class of Prof. Kenneth Kobre in 2011.
